Meta Verified and the blue badge: requirements, benefits and what's new
The blue badge on Facebook and Instagram is now part of a paid subscription. What you need, what you get, and how the new Meta One plans change things.

Many people still think a blue badge is something you "apply for" once you're famous enough. Since 2023, though, Meta has offered the badge through a paid subscription, Meta Verified, for creators and businesses on Facebook and Instagram. In September 2026 Meta also introduced Meta One, a new family of subscriptions whose creator and business plans include the verified badge. Here is what to know before you sign up.
What does the badge actually mean?
According to Meta, the badge means your profile was verified by Meta based on your activity across Meta technologies, or on information or documents you provided. It confirms identity, not content quality, and it does not promise more reach.
Benefits listed on the Meta Verified page include:
- A verified badge on your profile.
- Impersonation protection: proactive monitoring for accounts pretending to be you.
- Email and chat support (some features are still rolling out).
- Some profile enhancements, depending on region.
Meta states that features, availability and pricing may vary by region and app.
Eligibility
For creators, Meta's help page on ID requirements for verification says your ID must:
- Be a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID with your name, photo and date of birth.
- Show your full face clearly, matching your profile picture.
- Carry a name that matches your profile name (or meets Meta's naming standards).
You may also be asked for a video selfie. For businesses, the ID must show a name similar to the business asset being verified.
It also helps to:
- Turn on two-factor authentication first.
- Have a real posting history and no Community Standards violations.
- Avoid changing your name or profile photo right after verification, as changes can trigger re-verification.
What changes with Meta One?
On 15 September 2026 Meta announced Meta One: individual plans (Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus, WhatsApp Plus and bundles) and creator/business plans (Essential, Advanced, Expert, Max). Essential and above include a verified badge (after successful verification) and impersonation protection.
Meta says the plans are rolling out gradually and that benefits, pricing and availability vary by country, app and account. What you see in the app in Vietnam may not yet match the global announcement.
On price: we don't quote a Vietnam figure because Meta doesn't publish one. The accurate price is the one shown in the app when you subscribe.
How to subscribe
- Update the Facebook/Instagram app.
- Open Accounts Center (being gradually replaced by Meta Account) and look for Meta Verified or the available subscription.
- Pick the profile or Page, choose a plan and check the price shown.
- Upload your ID and record a video selfie if asked.
- Wait for Meta's review. The decision is Meta's.
If you don't see the option, it may not be available for your account or region yet.
Stay alert
- Nobody can "sell" you a badge on Meta's behalf. Subscriptions happen in the app or on Meta's official site, paid directly to Meta.
- Messages promising a "free" or "lifetime" badge with an unfamiliar link are usually account-theft scams.
- Never share your password or login codes, even with someone claiming to help you register.
- A badge does not make your account immune to restrictions. Policy compliance and good security still matter.
How AT Media can help
If you own the profile or Page and aren't sure you qualify, or your application was declined and you don't know why, AT Media can review your name, photo and documents with you and walk through the in-app process. We explain the situation and our fee up front, and we never promise an outcome, because the final decision is always Meta's.
